Soft skills are the personal characteristics, behaviours, and interpersonal abilities we use when interacting with others. They portray our capacity to work and live in harmony with others in place of work, which is why they are precisely the type of skills that employers seek. According to the Culture for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) 2019 State of the Place of work evaluation, soft skills are the top three lacking skills among many job candidates.
A person with soft skills, like emotional maturity, will detect the emotions of others around them and react accordingly and psychosocially. The correct application of soft skills accounts for approximately 85 per cent of professional success.
